Amnio Results

>> Monday, February 16, 2009

We got a call today about the amnio results and everything came back negative for chromosomal disorders. This confirms that Kamryn does not have Down's or Trisomy. We did not do an amnio on Brooke, but there weren't any indications that she might have a disorder and we decided not to chance it.

They are still growing the cells to check for chromosome deletions, but it is highly unlikely there will be any with these results coming back good. We will get those results in 7 days.

We had a great dinner with Jennifer and Julie last night who each have a CDH baby. We asked a lot of questions and learned so much more about what to expect as we get closer to delivery. We learned a lot more about feeding after Kamryn is born and that it will still be an adventure after she gets out of the hospital. We also think we will look at Children's in Houston a little more closely now as an option. Thanks so much for having dinner with us and answering all of our questions! You all were really sweet to take time out of your evening to help us.

Talk to everyone soon!

Hi Stephanie and Shawn,

Tom and I are so thrilled to hear that Kamryn's amnio was NORMAL! YEA!
Another hurdle conquered.
We're so happy for you! It's also nice that you were able to personally meet other CDH parents. I have been in touch with a few here in Cleveland...they truly are wonderful resources for us!

Again, congrats, sending love and prayers your way,

Sheryl & Tom

So happy that Kamryn's amnio was normal! That is wonderful you were able to meet up with parents affected by CDH. It will be an adventure even after Kamryn comes home, but well worth it. I hope she comes home with no feeding issues at all!! There is such an extreme on how CDH babies do with feeding, to some coming home breastfeeding like a pro to the other extreme of needing feeding tubes. My son came home on an NG tube for several weeks, but was soon bottle feeding exclusively once he could stay awake long enough to eat and had the strength to take a full bottle! That is a good questions to add to your list--the hospital's approach to getting your baby to eat.

Many continued prayers for Kamryn and Brooke and the entire family. Continue to stay strong for your girls.

Hi! Just wandered over by clicking the CDH webring button on my niece's blog. Her CDH baby is now six years old and into Spiderman and torturing his baby sister. Just thought I would say hi and wish you good luck and I had to comment on the amazing sonogram pics. Man, that technology has improved a bunch since I had my youngest baby ( she turns 20 in May). Good luck to you.
